Student Placement

At Ishar we appreciate the opportunity to provide student placements to local TAFE and University students and in some instances to international students as well.

Ishar offers opportunities for practicum to students from disciplines such as Community Work; Social Science; Social Work; Nursing and Medical students.

Requesting a placement

Requests for placement must be sent in writing by the University or College and addressed to Ishar’s Director, Ms. Andrea Creado.

Placement opportunities at the Centre are limited, and we usually have more requests than places available. Thus, our suggestion to students is to request early in the semester to their lecturer and/or supervisor to write to Ishar’s Director for the opportunity to undertake their practicum at Ishar.

Our suggestion to lecturers and supervisors is to write to us if at all possible the previous semester to secure a placement for their students.

When the opportunity for placement is secure a meeting will be organized with the student to discuss the particulars of the placement, and when the induction to the Centre will take place.

For the first meeting we request students to bring a copy of a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Clearance.
