Ishar is seeking a full-time Youth Social Worker with experience in working with young people from a migrant background. Fixed – Term contract from August/September 2025 until July/August 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, passionate Youth Social Worker with relevant experience to join our team and help improve the lives of young people.
Role Statement
The Youth Social Worker will work alongside young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to identify and support them with their goals and improve their safety and overall wellbeing.
Selection Criteria
Essential (please address these in your application)
A relevant qualification and/or demonstrated relevant experience (i.e. youth work, social work, or case work).
Demonstrated experience in working effectively with young women from CaLD backgrounds and ability to form positive working relationships.
Ability to build networks and referral pathways to link clients to support services.
Demonstrated knowledge of issues impacting on young people from CaLD backgrounds
Demonstrated knowledge of government and community agencies and resources available for young people from CaLD backgrounds.
Experience in planning and delivering community educational programs.
Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
Genuine passion for health and wellbeing, and alignment with organisational values.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills in cross-cultural environments and ability to write reports and case notes effectively.
Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including competency in the use of MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and within a small team environment.

Experience working with refugee and migrant populations in a community-based organisation.
Fluency in a second language, other than English.
Experience working with interpreters.
Some understanding of trauma informed practice and the effects of complex trauma, and relevant legal requirements that apply, including child protection and mandatory reporting.

Full unrestricted working rights in Australia.
Current WA police clearance dated within the last 12 months.
A current Driver's Licence and own a road-worthy, insured vehicle.
