About the role

Ishar is seeking a full-time Safety Advocate with experience working with women from a migrant background. This is a fixed-term contract position until January 2028.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, passionate Safety Advocate with relevant experience to join Waullo Dawn Healing Service team and help women who have experienced family and domestic violence (FDV).

Role Statement

The role is responsible to provide high-quality, trauma-informed casework and advocacy support to CaLD women impacted by family and domestic violence, using evidence-based approaches to support safety, healing, and empowerment.


Selection Criteria
Essential (please address these in your application)

Requires a relevant tertiary qualification (i.e. social work, psychology, social sciences, community services) and demonstrated significant experience in related field. 

  1. Well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills including the ability to foster effective partnerships with other agencies and engage community members, in particular Hub clients, in program development and decision-making.

  2. A well-developed ability to assist clients via a case management approach, to understand the implications of Trauma and attachment theories and their relationship to family and domestic violence.

  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse environments and form positive working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  4. Knowledge of family and domestic violence issues affecting both women and children, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse and Indigenous backgrounds.

  5. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and client record management systems.

  6. Experience working in a case management context.

    • Fluent in a language other than English.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of Government and community agencies and resources that assist families impacted by family and domestic violence and/or homelessness.

    • Experience working with interpreters.

    • Current WA Working with Children’s Check. Our organisation is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. We require all applicants to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment.

    • Current National Police Clearance (not less than 6 Months old).

    • Current Senior First Aid Certificate.

    • A current "C" Class Driver's License
