Ishar presents Let’s Talk Culture, an enriching event designed to enhance your cultural competency practices in the mental health and well-being space. As service providers, it is crucial for us to recognise the diverse needs and experiences of the individuals we serve. This series of seminars aims to equip you with valuable information and insights on working with one of the most vulnerable cohorts in our community: CaLD women. By deepening our understanding of their unique challenges, we can better support their mental health and overall well-being. The third seminar of the series, " Intercultural Young Generation and Mental Health in CaLD Communities” seeks to promote a deeper understanding of the unique mental health needs of the intercultural young generation. Through insightful discussions and shared experiences, we aim to identify effective strategies and solutions to enhance the mental health and resilience of young people growing up in diverse cultural environments. As part of this seminar, we hope you will gain an understanding of: Intergenerational and Intercultural Dynamics: Examining the dynamics between young individuals and their parents or older family members, discussing potential conflicts, expectations, and pressures experienced by young people, and exploring their impact on mental well-being. Acculturation and Adjustment: Discussing the process of acculturation and adjustment for young individuals from CaLD communities, addressing potential stressors and mental health implications during this transitional period, and exploring strategies to promote healthy adaptation. Culturally Responsive Support Systems: Highlighting the importance of culturally responsive mental health services and support systems for young individuals in CaLD communities, discussing strategies to enhance accessibility, cultural competence, and the tailoring of interventions to be culturally relevant.
