Women’s Health Services

Specialised Services for a Holistic Wellbeing

Beyond reproductive health and antenatal care, our Women's Health Clinic offers an array of specialised services, including:

Pregnancy, childbirth, and perinatal clinical support and education

Pregnancy, childbirth, and perinatal clinical support and education, provided by a midwife and female doctor. Services include:

  • Shared care support for low risk pregnancies from Ishar and your hospital throughout your pregnancy

  • Health information explaining pregnancy, diet, giving birth, pain relief, breastfeeding, and early parenting

  • Individual consultations

  • A home visit after your baby is born, usually at 2-3 weeks following birth, if you have received antenatal care at Ishar and you live within the catchment area

Well Women’s Checks

A free service provided by our practice nurse that includes general well-being discussions, blood pressure checks, contraceptive options, routine cervical screens (previously called pap smears), unplanned pregnancy advice, and weight and lifestyle advice.

These services are bulk-billed through Medicare. If you do not have Medicare, you will be charged the Medicare rate for antenatal services.

Iron Infusions

Our team offers consultations to assess iron deficiency and, when appropriate, provides referrals to partner clinics for iron infusions, supporting women in achieving optimal health.

Focused on Female Reproductive Health and Antenatal Care

We provide support for women's reproductive health and pregnancy care. Our doctors, midwives, and nurses work with women to address reproductive health concerns, gynaecological issues, and antenatal care needs.

Supporting Mental Health A Holistic Approach

We support both physical and mental health. Our doctors can prepare Mental Health Treatment Plans for eligible Ishar clients and provide support for mental health concerns.

A Team of Compassionate Professionals

Our Women's Health Clinic is staffed by a dedicated team of female doctors, clinical psychologists, clinic nurses, and midwives.

Our allied and primary health professionals bring a wealth of experience and understanding, ensuring that women receive the care they need in a culturally responsive and supportive environment.

Support for Women Experiencing FDV

We understand the impact of Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) on women's health. Our clinic provides compassionate support and resources for those navigating these challenging circumstances.

At Ishar, we take a holistic approach to women's health, recognising that each woman is unique with specific needs and challenges. Our Women's Health Clinic is dedicated to nurturing not just physical health but also emotional and mental wellbeing.

Perinatal Mental Health Services - Nurturing Mothers

We recognise the significance of perinatal mental health and its profound impact on vulnerable refugee and migrant mothers and their families. Our Perinatal Mental Health Service is a strength-based, client-centred, and culturally responsive program that helps reduce instances of perinatal anxiety and depression within CaLD communities.
